As part of the Indianapolis 500 Festival, they have what's called the "Rookie Run." It's for 3-12-year-olds. We decided to give it a try with our girls. They loved it! It was a 2 block run, up one side and down the other of Meridian Street downtown. It was a bit chaotic, but still fun! I forgot my camera-I know! Bad Mommy! Our dear friends joined us, though, and were gracious enough to capture these great shots of our girls. Carolyn was up front the whole way and you could just see her little legs wobbling across the finish line from running so hard and fast. She's very competitive. :-) Sarah, just ran her best and smiled the whole time. When we had a practice family run, Sarah asked me if it was OK if she did a run/walk. I told her that was just fine. She did end up running the whole two blocks, though. A great time was had by all. It did end kinda sadly, though. We waited FOREVER in the face-painting line and then didn't end up getting to have the girls faces painting. We just did not have any more time to wait. Steve had gone to get the car and they knew that we'd have to leave no matter what when he got there. They handled it fairly well and fell asleep in the car within minutes. I, personally, thought that the two little girls in front of us who already had 3 different paintings on their bodies should have let us go ahead, but alas, no such luck!
