Rainy Day Masterpiece

Carolyn wanted to play in the rain today while the other two slept. So, we spent about an hour splashing around outside and collecting things for Carolyn's first "masterpiece." She told me she wanted to create a "masterpiece" and asked if I even knew that meant a "piece of art!" Here's the final product. It's rocks that create a border with a few "hidden" treasures in it and a note, poem, handprint and picture inside. She had in mind what she wanted to do and just asked for my help as needed. It's so hard not so say, "Don't you want to...?" and just let her work. You probably can't see, but she even came up with a joke to write on it. "Rain, rain go away. Go into my glasses-head." She thought that was pretty funny. :-) It's so neat to see her creativity develop.

So cute that Carolyn wanted to create a "masterpiece!" She did a lovely job of it, too.

I actually stumbled across the "other Hanscom family blog" a few months ago when I was trying to find yours. Fun!

And in response to your comment awhile ago: Surprisingly, I think starting out our marriage in Kenya has been even easier than if we were at home. Since we don't have many outside outlets we've really had to "cleave" and plus there's no room for well-meaning family or friends to poke their noses in ;-)
Of course that's not to say that we won't be thrilled to get back to the states and all of you!
